In response to requests from local residents Evensong is offering a series of afternoon
opportunities to gather for spiritual experiences.
For those who live at a distance you might consider planning
a personal retreat before or after the session.

Journey Through the
Chrisitan Spiritual Classics

Offers an opportunity for those interested to gather for a group discussion and reflection upon several Western Spiritual Classics. Rev. Jim David will facilitate the four discussion sessions which will take place on Thursday afternoons over the coming months (see the schedule below). The first two books have been selected and suggestions will be taken for the last two. The series is designed to appeal to local residents, but anyone may participate and Evensong offers overnight accomodations at a special rate for those who wish to travel to the Cape. Discussions will take place as follows:

Fee: $20 per session. Participants agree to secure their own copy of the work being discussed and to be prepared for the discussion by having read the material. To register for any or all of the fours essions please call Evensong Retreat Center at 508-432-0027.

Guided Meditation Series

In the midst of our hectice 21st century lives is it even possible to take time for quiet prayer and mediation? For centuries mystics have made such prayer the center of their spiritual lives, and spiritual writers today exhort their readers to find time each day for quiet prayer. Yet our lives are filled with so many things these days that even if we find a few moments for prayer our minds race with the pull of our busy schedules.
Join Rev. Jim David of Evensong Retreat Center as he leads a group exercise in guided meditation. In the comfortable and peaceful setting of St. Mary of Magdala Chapel participants will be invited to listen to Rev. DAvid's voice as he gently guides the group into a peaceful meditation. Opportunity will be provided for a discussion on the experience. These guided meditations will be offered on the following dates:

Friday, December 18, 2009, 2:00pm - 3:30pm

Friday, February 19, 2010, 2:00pm - 3:30pm

Friday, April 16, 2010, 2:00pm - 3:30pm
